Video

24 Jan

I don’t know what to write about tonight. Over the weekend John and I really need to go out and buy that plastic that goes over windows, because I can feel cold drafts in the house sometimes. And we keep the heat at about what we kept the air at in Miami, so there is no reason why I should be cold.

We got these little video cameras at work, and one of my co-workers decided to take some video of me working while he sang some weird song. I have no idea what the lyrics were, but it should tell you something about the guy that it took so long for me to look at him like “WTF.”

Exhausted

23 Jan

Today has been one stressful, crazy day. I came home and numbed myself with stupid reality shows and sloppy joes. Ha, that rhymed. Needless to say, another craftless day. *sigh*

Anyway, here is a picture of Coco’s tee/dress all finished:

Today just goes to show that waking up early (I was at work by 8:15) does not get anything more accomplished…in fact, I may have gotten LESS done today than I normally would have.

Heath Ledger Died!

22 Jan

Sorry about this guys. The time I normally would have spent preparing a post was taken up with Heath Ledger pics/info/etc. collecting. In case you haven’t heard, he died. 😦 So sad. See the fruits of my labor here:

Graphic Design

21 Jan

Would you guys be interested in seeing some of the graphics that I make for work? For those of you who don’t know, I do the websites for the Clear Channel radio stations in Rochester, NY. I feel bad that I don’t always have crafty things to post, but I’d always have graphical things.  I don’t know, it was just something I thought of. Please, comment and let me know.

In other news, it’s snowing again!  Not very much mind you, and not much is sticking, but snow!

*sigh*  I really should start sewing more bags, and less dolls.  I’m good at bags, lol.  But plushies are so fun!

Dolly Failure :(

20 Jan

I slept in a little today, (until 10:30, I think) but got a lot done anyway. I sewed the first prototype of one of the sketches I posted the other day. She didn’t turn out that well, but I learned a lot from her, so I think the next one will be better. I didn’t bother with any of the decorative stitching though… I didn’t think it was worth investing the time. Poor thing. She’s really really small. I just remembered I’d been carrying her around in my robe pocket!

After I finished the doll I organized my studio, putting some of my My Little Ponies on the top shelf above my drafting table. And then I got the bug to hunt for the bear family.

There are six members of the bear family: John, Colleen, Aileen, Sean, Dune, and Twilight Bear. LOL. John and I are so dumb sometimes. “John Bear” was given to me by who else for our first Valentine’s Day way back in high school. I remember walking the hallways so proud that I had something to show that someone loved me. A couple months after that, John got really sick and was stuck in bed for a while. One day I went to his house and handed him what looked like the bear he’d given me. He was very confused and told me that, no, he’d given ME the bear and that I should keep it. That’s when I smiled and told him that my bear was at home. This was “Colleen Bear.” Aaaand, eventually the bears beat us to having kids. And two “cats.” Well, they didn’t beat us to having the cats, but you get the idea. Aileen and Sean are the names we’ve picked out for our unborn, unconcieved children. This is the Bear family. 🙂

I also organized the socks today. I hate organizing socks. So much so, that when I do a wash & everything has been dried, I separate all the socks and put them in a grocery bag. I add more and more socks to the bag until we run out of socks all together. Only THEN do I sort the socks. And we still get ones without mates. It’s bizarre.

New Blanket

19 Jan

I slept really late today, which I feel bad about. Don’t get me wrong, I love to sleep, but I feel so unproductive when I wake up. And I hate that.

When I finally got up, John and I went out to run errands. Comp USA is going out of business, so we went by to see if they had any display items on sale that would be good to use in my studio or at a craft fair. We went there a couple of weeks ago, and I saw something that would have been PERFECT, but it was $50. So we decided to play the fate game and see if it was there later for cheaper. It wasn’t. 😦 Ah well. I guess I didn’t really need it. I would check out a location near you though, especially if you make necklaces; they had a lot of things that would be good to hang them on for $3 each.

Then we went Sears and picked up this cute blanket. I love love love the stitching on it, and it is so soft. It’s just the thing to curl up on the couch with on a cold winter day. And it has been especially cold this weekend. Normally, we go to the grocery store on Sundays, but it’s supposed to be in the single digits tomorrow, so we went today.

Hopefully I’ll wake up at a decent hour tomorrow, and my Sunday won’t be a complete waste. 🙂 Not that today was…we finished season 3 of Lost. Just in time for it to start on TV again. We also watched Stardust, which was really good. The special effects were amazing.

See you tomorrow!

TV

18 Jan

I made meat loaf last night, which turned out pretty well. I know it’s hard to mess up meatloaf, but whatever. I used a different spaghetti sauce on it this time that had garlic in it. I don’t think I’ll use that kind again. It wasn’t bad, just…not like how I like my meatloaf. John made the salt potatoes. I don’t know if I’ve said it here, but they don’t have salt potatoes in FL. Can you believe that?!

In other news, we’ve been watching A LOT of TV lately. Our mailbox has been flooded with Netflix DVDs of Lost and Jericho, and we’ve seen Dexter, Californication, Penn & Teller’s Bullshit, and Weeds “On Demand” on cable. I actually think a couple other series too, but I can’t think of them. We will sit there and watch the whole season. Not in one sitting mind you, but we will be there for hours. I feel so unproductive afterwards, but they’re very entertaining.

I even told John that I felt bad about not making anything in a while and he said, “Well, you can craft when we get done with the shows.” Doesn’t seem like it now, but I found this hilarious at the time.
