Oh, why hello there!

31 Mar

March is national craft month! How could I have missed blogging during national craft month?! I have been thinking about what I want from this blog, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t post every day. Never mind that I don’t quite have that much time… but I don’t think I’m interesting enough for everyday! lol So I’m going to shoot for M-W-F updates.

John’s mom is coming to visit from FL on Friday, so this week will be full of getting the house ready for her arrival. I want to FINALLY get those curtains done (I know, right? I’ve been saying that forever) as well as hem the edges of the new table cloth I made for the kitchen, and (if time permits) recover the lounge chair my parents bought in the 70s. I took the old crazy navy fur, no I’m not kidding fabric off over the weekend, and my hands still hurt from pulling out all those staples!

I’ve been tagged by kloh to do a book meme!

Here are the rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and post a comment here once you post it to your blog so I can come see!

Ok, so here are my nerdy, nerdy answers.
1. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Players Handbook
2. Check
3. If a paladin has a “holy sword: (a special magical sword which your referee is aware of and will explain if the opportunity arises), he or she projects a circle of power 10 feet in diameter when the weapon is unsheathed and held.
4. This power dispels magic at the level of magic use equal to the experience level of the paladin. At 9th level paladins gain the ability to employ cleric spells (see Table 32). They many never use scrolls or spells, however, except those normally usable by fighters.
5. hmm…will have to do this tomorrow.

Sorry for the text only post guys, but I thought checking in would be better than nothing!

I hate spring forward.

Crappy Weather

8 Mar

There is a storm going on, and it made us cancel our weekend plans. The roads are terrible. I’m so bummed. So I’ve been surfing craigslist, looking for a table to go under my shelves. I am not having any luck. No one seems to be offering up a table like the one I want. Why is it so hard to find a table like this:

Or this…
or this…

5 Mar

Yesterday we had an ice storm. We even lost power for a little while. I should have done some crafting (I haven’t done ANYTHING this week!), maybe something like the hearts posted here, but I read some Real Simple by candle light instead.

1. Yesterday, my work held a happy hour to welcome a new employee. I’m not allowed to talk about it in any more detail though. Pictured are myself, Bill’s back, Sean, and Jessica. (Also, the ice storm happened after I got home.)

2. Julie and I.

3. Today was Sean’s birthday so Jessica and I got him some presents. I made him a card, and we had a select few sign it. Really, we just picked people who we were all friends with or that we thought would write something funny. BTW, the card says Robot Bunny.

4. The intern and I decorated his cubicle!

1. Yesterday, John and I went grocery shopping, so I thought I’d show you my bag collection. I’ve gotten them from a bunch of different places, and I think the only one left that I’ve seen, but haven’t bought, is Wal-Mart’s. Truth is though, that I don’t even use all of the ones I currently have. So I really don’t need another one. (But I waaaaaant it!)

2. This is my latest one, from Target. My mom sent it to me in the mail. I love the design!

3. This is what they look like when they’re all folded up. I store them behind my garbage can under the sink.

4. We bought some daffodils. I like the cream/white and yellow ones better, but these were all they had. For $3.50 though, sweet!

5. Not sure why I felt the need to number the close up….um, yay spring?

Dyed Hair!

3 Mar

I’m so sorry I’ve been boring blog! I looked over my page and I was not even interested in myself! I’ll try to do better. And to (hopefully) make up for it, I’ve backblogged the missed entries from this weekend. I didn’t take another break. I was thinking of you, and taking pictures for you! I just never got around to posting. But check the entries out!

I dyed my hair yesterday, and only one person noticed today. This picture doesn’t show it well (the flash makes it look lighter) but it is so incredibly DARKER than my hair was on Friday. I do. not. understand how no one’s noticed.

I also went to the dentist today. This is what I had in my IM away message. LOL. The appointment went fine.

Thrift Store Shopping!

2 Mar

1. I bought some new minis! I moved the little cup and saucer with it’s matching tea pot, and I really like them a lot together!

2. I got the little pitcher and base as well as those little animals.

3. My mom used to collect those kinds of animals, so they reminded me of her. The little plate is one of the ones I had sitting in the diamond shelf. I think it makes a nice little bed for the puppy!

4. I really need to figure out what to do with this shelf. I want to make it a box again, but John likes the diamond. It is cool like that, just not very practical. Maybe if I find a bigger plate…

5. These are the items I DIDN’T get. This one reads “Home Rules: If you sleep on it – make it up. If you wear it – hang it up. If you drop it – pick it up. If you eat out of it – put it in the sink. If you step on it – wipe it off. If you open it – close it. If you empty it – fill it up. If it rings – answer it. If it howls – feed it. If it cries – love it.” I’m really regretting not getting this. I’ll have to try my hand at recreating it.

6. Haha I’m actually regretting not getting this too. It was only 99 cents. And where do you find burnt wood carrot plaques?! Nowhere!

7. This I took a picture of, and never even considered taking it home. Creepy!

8. I bought this one, which is why I said no to the other two plaques. I was hoping that the text was in German or Galic (since that would work for either John’s heritage or mine.) but when I got home, google told me it was Swedish. Oh well. It still looks cool. The text says “Give us our daily bread.”
