Happy Anniversary!

14 Sep

John and I have been married two years today. You can read about our first anniversary here.

I’m so grateful to actually be with John today. He is going to try to get out of work early (which is still 5pm, lol) and we’re going to go out to a nice dinner.

I am torn between two dresses I want to wear, and I need your help deciding! Please leave a comment picking one of the dresses below, and note that I’m on the hunt for a cropped sweater like the red one to wear with the pastel dress. Thanks!

Despite them looking very different on the hanger, both dresses have about the same shape once on me. (Both dresses are fitted at the top, and have a-line skirts.) The red has a racer back, and the pastel one has a fuller skirt.

PS: Thanks for the reminder, facebook! (lol)

Happy Anniversary

14 Sep

John and I were married a year ago today.

He is in the field today, so I went up over Labor Day weekend so we could celebrate it. In case you were wondering, it is possible, and not even problematic, to bring wedding cake slices onto a Delta flight.

It was fun, and I loved seeing him, but it’s hard being at work knowing he’s not at home to greet me when I’m done for the day. I don’t even know if he’ll be able to call me. He asked his cadre (spelling?) if he can and we have our fingers crossed. We’ll see.

It’s been an interesting year.  I love you John.  I miss you.

I’m going to go home, maybe mow the lawn, and work on his blanket.  I’m hoping to have it done for his graduation, but we’ll see.  When all of you look at me, confused, when I say I want to make him a patchwork knitted blanket, think this.  I have a Netflix movie, but it’s about a wedding, and I couldn’t get through it last week.  Maybe this week I’ll be stronger.

Wedding Invitations

14 Jul

I know I said that I wouldn’t write about the wedding here, but this is crafty, and since I haven’t posted anything crafty in a while, I don’t think you’ll mind. 🙂

Here are my wedding invitations! I originally wanted to use double sided pink scrapbooking paper, but I couldn’t find any, so I went with this instead. It’s two sheets of paper glued together. Bonus: they were only 15 cents a sheet! Can you believe that? Score! The info and the little inserts (directions, rsvp, and registry info) are printed on cardstock, and I only needed one steet per invitation.
Normally I don’t like all my text centered, but it just seemed right for this. I don’t know if it’s because it was for an invitation or what, but…

The little circle you see on the tip of the envelope flap is a silver floral sticker. In case you couldn’t tell, my color scheme is pink and grey/silver.

I should have taken a close up of the knot design. That bad boy is giving the cake designer some trouble. I sent her my design idea and she said that she didn’t know if she could do it justice. Here’s hoping!

^ cake design I sent baker.

And that’s them!  I blurred out the important info so you can’t stalk me, lol.  What do you think?

Burgundy Basin

1 Mar

Today we checked out the Burgundy Basin, one of our location choices for the wedding. It was pretty nice, and they handle a lot of the wedding/reception details, which is awesome. See that line of pine trees in the second picture? They just planted that last year, and it’s where the receiving line takes place. *sigh* Even covered in snow, that gazebo is so pretty.

I’m going to try to keep this blog only about crafts and my home life, so I’ve made a second blog for my wedding planning. So this will be the last wedding post you see here. Well, until the wedding is about to happen/has happened! I’m also going to try and cut out the TV posts too, but I will make exceptions if they’re The Office related.

Wedding Stuff

12 Jan

John and I did a lot of research on weddings today. It’s hard to find a location for the ceremony & reception that would be good for us because we only plan on having about 30 guests, and a lot of placed require a minimum of 100. I don’t even think I know 100 people, lol. I would love for our wedding to take place here. Their website is not that good though. I wonder if they would trade a nice website for a nice wedding… hmmm. That would be great. We’re also liking The Green Lantern Inn for a reception location. Ignoring that it sounds like the comic book character, of course. We have a bunch of links saved though, so these are by no means our final choices.

In crafting news, I finished Coco’s dress today. Sorry for the lack of pictures today, but I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to post a picture. All I added was the vintage ric rac and a pink collar. That collar was a pain to sew though; it was so tiny!
